Discussions on a proposed data center in South DeKalb have been postponed for 100 days, during which time regulations will be reviewed.
Environmental Concerns - Data centers significantly contribute to pollution, raising environmental concerns. The county will assess land-use regulations, including buffer distances and water usage limits.
Economic Impact - While data centers may not create many jobs, they can generate tax revenue for local schools. A special account will manage this revenue for the Southwest Tax Allocation District.
Community Involvement - Residents are encouraged to get involved; Commissioner Terry will send out committee information. Opportunities exist for participating in water conservation programs and addressing community needs.
Board of Commissioners meetings occur on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 178 Sam St.
Water Rate Increase
A 10% increase in water rates will take effect on August 1, with additional increases planned for the future. Subsidies and discounts are available for low-income individuals and certain groups.
